Malaysia-assembled Porsche Cayenne reaches 1,000 units
The 1,000th Porsche Cayenne, which was locally assembled in Malaysia, has recently been produced at the Inokom assembly plant in Kulim, Kedah. This accomplishment is a significant milestone for Porsche Malaysia and Sime Darby Auto Performance, as it signifies the first local assembly facility for the brand outside of Europe.
Christopher Hunter, the CEO of Sime Darby Auto Performance, expressed his satisfaction with this achievement, stating, “We are delighted to have reached this milestone with the locally assembled Cayenne, reaffirming once again that our customers have a strong affinity for the Porsche SUV. Our Inokom assembly facility continues to support our growth and meet the demands of sports car enthusiasts in Malaysia.”
He further emphasized that the increasing demand for Porsche vehicles reflects their exceptional quality, serving as evidence that Porsches are manufactured to the highest standards.
The establishment of the local assembly facility highlights the significance of the Malaysian market for Porsche and further strengthens the longstanding partnership between Porsche and Sime Darby. Additionally, this program contributes to empowering the local community and the automotive industry by relying entirely on highly skilled Malaysian workers.
The Porsche Cayenne recently celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2022. In Malaysia, it is available in a single variant, featuring a 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 engine that delivers 340 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque to all four wheels through an eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission.
Customers have the option to personalize their locally assembled Cayenne with a range of accessories and options, including the lifestyle-oriented Tequipment accessory lineup and the Porsche Exclusive Manufaktur Package, which adds the SportDesign exterior trim and a distinctive Sport exhaust system, among other features.
